Vinnie is the son of Peter Jones and his wife Glenda. He went to Dollis Junior School in Mill Hill, and later to Chancellor’s School when his family moved to Hertfordshire.

Vinnie’s soccer career began in 1984 when he joined Wealdstone, a club that competed in the Alliance Premier League at the time, but after 26 games he joined IFK Holmsund, with which he won the third division of the Swedish championship. After that, he moved to Wimbledon, a club that paid £10,000 to Wealdstone, and where he played until 1989, recording 77 appearances including winning the FA Cup in 1988. After Wimbledon he joined Leeds United, and led the team to the Football League Second Division championship, and promotion to the Premier League to compete with the top English teams. He made 46 appearances for Leeds United and scored 5 goals, however, he lost his place in the starting lineup in the second year to David Batty and Gary Speed, and as a result he moved to Sheffield United, but after only a year he became a part of the Chelsea Football Club. Unfortunately, despite his great performance in 42 games, he couldn’t sustain his place at Chelsea, and returned to his loving Wimbledon. In his second stint with the club, Vinnie played until 1998 and recorded another 177 games, with 14 goals scored, becoming one of the club’s legends. In 1998 he left Wimbledon and became coach/player for QPR, but played in only nine games before he decided to retire from soccer. His net worth was well set.

Vinnie also made nine appearances for the Welsh National team, between 1994 and 1997.

After his playing career ended, Vinnie tried himself as an actor, making his debut in 1998 as Big Chris in Guy Ritchie’s crime drama “Smoking Barrels”, starring Jason Flemyng and Dexter Fletcher. Throughout the years he became known for his roles of violent criminals and thugs. In 2000 he featured in the action thriller “Gone in Sixty Seconds” (2000), and continued to appear in such successful films as “Snatch” (2000) with Jason Statham and Brad Pitt, then “Swordfish” (2001) with John Travolta and Hugh Jackman, and the lead role in the film “Mean Machine” (2001), all of which increased his net worth. In 2007 he starred in the action drama “Strength and Honour” alongside Michael Madsen and Patrick Bergin, and also had one of the lead roles in Scott Wiper’s action thriller “The Condemned”. Through 2010, Vinnie appeared in “The Midnight Meat Train” (2008) and “The Bleeding” (2009), then in 2010 he had the lead role in “The Heavy”, and the following year featured in “The Liquidator”, increasing further his net worth.

Since then he has only appeared in low budget films such as “Fractured” (2013) and “Ambushed” the same year, among others. However, in 2013 he made an appearance in the action film “Escape Plan”, which featured Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger and 50 Cent. In recent years, Vinnie has had many appearances, which include “Puncture Wounds” (2014), “Mercenary: Absolution” (2015) with Steven Seagal, then in the highly praised film “Awaken” (2015), directed by Mark Atkins, and will appear in “Hypnotized”, “Solar Eclipse: Depth of Darkness”, and “Kingsman: The Golden Circle”, which are scheduled for release laterin 2017.

Regarding his personal life, Vinnie has been married to Tanya Jones since 1994; the couple has a son together, while Tanya brought her daughter from her first marriage into their relationship.

He has had several problems with the law, mostly for his behavior, as he has been convicted several times for assaulting people.

In 2013, Vinnie said that he and his wife were suffering from skin cancer, however, as of 2015, they have both recovered.
