Thiago Silva Net Worth $45 Million

Thiago’s career started when he was in his early teens, when he joined the Campo Grande football school, which was a feeder school for the Brazilian team Fluminense. When he was just 14 years old, he impressed head coach of Fluminense at the time, Maurinho, while playing a friendly match against Xerém, so played for the Fluminense the next two years, and then after several tryouts with clubs, joined the small Brazilian side Barcelona for which he played for the 2000-2001 season, after which he returned to Fluminense.

He had problems in his early career, as he couldn’t sign a contract with any notable team, playing for RS Futebol, and Juventude, but then in 2004 he was bought by European side Porto for $2.5 million. Unfortunately he played only for the Porto B squad, making 14 appearances and scoring five goals, though he wasn’t a striker.

After a season in Porto B, Thiago was loaned to Dynamo Moscow, where things got even worse as he contracted tuberculosis, which brought into question his soccer career. He spent six months in hospital and thought about retiring, however, his mother convinced him not to surrender.

Following his recovery, Silva returned to his native country, and started playing again for Fluminense. Little Silva’s form improved, and he became one of the best defenders on his team, winning Brasileirão Team of the Year award in 2008. Thanks to his successful games, Silva brought attention to himself from European teams, and was eventually sold to Milan in December 2008 for €10 million. He couldn’t play competitive matches until 2009 season, but started building his reputation through friendly games.

Silva stayed in Milan until the end of 2011-2012 season, when he was sold to French team Paris Saint-Germain for €42 million. During his stint in Milan, Silva won Serie A in the 2010-2011 season, and Supercoppa Italiana in 2011, and was named to the Serie A Team of the Year twice.

He continued in Paris where he left off in Milan, becoming one of the best defenders in the world. He won four consecutive league trophies with the team, then three Coupe de France, and four Coupe de la Ligue. Their dominance was interrupted in 2017, as Monaco won the title. However, thanks to his great form, Thiago signed a new lucrative contract with the club, which increased his wealth to a large degree.

He has won several individual awards too, including being named into Ligue 1 Team of the Year five times, then UEFA Team of the Year three times, and UEFA Champions League Team of the Group Stage.

Aside from having a successful club career, Thiago has also had success with the national team; he has played in 63 games so far and won a bronze medal at the 2008 Olympics, then a silver medal in 2012 Olympics, and FIFA Confederations Cup in 2013.

Regarding his personal life, Thiago is married to Isabele da Silva, and the couple has two children together.
