Ron Simmons Net Worth $3 Million

Ron Simmons spent his childhood in his hometown, attending Warner Robins High School where he began playing football in the positions of linebacker and tight end for the school team. As he distinguished himself as a player, he was named lineman of the 1976 year, as well as a first-team All-State by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Upon matriculation, he enrolled at Florida State University, where he continued to play for the college team in the position of a defensive nose guard, having a great four seasons under Coach Bobby Bowden. Thanks to his skills, Ron earned Consensus All-America honors in 1979 and 1980, and later in 2008, he was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame.

Thus, Ron’s professional football career began right after his graduation, when he was selected in the sixth round by the Cleveland Browns in the 1981 NFL Draft. He had a very brief career there as a defensive tackle, as he stayed with the Browns only two seasons, after which he spent a season in the Canadian Football League (CFL)’s team – the Ottawa Rough Riders, which added to his net worth. Finally, he finished his career playing from 1983 to 1985 for the Tampa Bay Bandits in the United States Football League (USFL), where he met Lex Luger, a future professional wrestler.

Speaking about his wrestling career, it began when he joined Jim Crockett Promotions in 1987, and in the same year he had his biggest victory, defeating Ivan Koloff, and five days later he defeated Rodney Anoa’i. Soon his career turned full professional, when he became a member of the National Wrestling Association in 1988. He stayed with NWA/World Championship Wrestling until 1994, and one of his greatest victories was when with Butch Read he defeated The Steiner Brothers for the NWA World Tag Team Championship in 1990, and when they won the WCW World Tag Team Championship in January of 1991. In the following year, he became the first African American WCW World Heavyweight Champion, defeating Vader, and his final match for the WCW was against Scott Armstrong in 1994, which increased his net worth by a large margin.

Afterwards, from 1994 to 1995, Ron appeared as a member of Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW), unfortunately, he didn’t have much success.

Then, Ron became a part of the World Wrestling Federation (WWF), and he made his debut in an episode of “Raw”, a professional wrestling television program, in 1996, increasing further his net worth. During the same year, he established the professional wrestling stable The Nation of Domination (NOD), which reached great success in the WWF, which lasted until 1998. After that, Ron together with John Layfield founded The Acolytes Protection Agency (APA), a professional wrestling tag team, competing until 2004, when he retired. Thanks to his accomplishments, Ron was elected to the World Wrestling Entertainment Hall of Fame in 2012.

If to talk about his personal life, Ron Simmons has been married to Michelle Golden since 1987; they have four children and their current residence is in Marietta, Georgia.
