Ricky Craven started his racing career in 1981 and recorded two wins, which helped him to be named as the 1981 Unity Raceway Rookie of the Year. Hi debuted in NASCAR at Oxford Plains Speedway in 1986, finishing 25th after some problems with the engine. Rocky failed to get a win in his first few years in NASCAR, but finally he won in the NASCAR Xfinity Series at the 1991 True Value 250, and was named the 1991 Busch North Series Most Popular Driver.
