Born as Rebecca Rose Lobo on the 6th October 1973 in Hartford, Connecticut USA, she is a sports analyst who currently works with the ESPN Network. Before her career as an analyst, Rebecca was a basketball player in the Women National Basketball Association (WNBA), for such teams as New York Liberty, Houston Comets, and Connecticut Sun.

Influenced by her father who was a teacher, but also a basketball coach, Rebecca took the basketball in her hands, and played in high school, and became the state scoring record holder with 2,740 points.

After high school, Rebecca enrolled at the University of Connecticut; she was in position to choose between 100 universities, but chose Connecticut, as she thought they had the best educational system.

While in college, Rebecca received numerous prestigious awards, and even won the WNCAA championship with the team, recording 35-0 through the season. She is the recipient of the 1995 Naismith and College Player of the Year award, and also the Honda-Broderick Cup for 1994-95, among others.

As early as 1995, Rebecca joined the women national basketball team, firstly in tryouts for the first team, and when she got selected, she was a part of the squad which won the gold medal at the Olympics held in 1996 in Atlanta.

In 1997, WNBA was officially in augurated, and she was selected by the New York Liberty, marking the beginning of an increase in her net worth, signing a professional contract with the team. She played for the New York Liberty until 2001, when she was selected by the Houston Comets in the expansion draft. However, she played for the Comets for only one season, after which she was traded to the Connecticut Sun, and then retired after the season ended.

While her career lasted, Rebecca received several prestigious awards, including the All WNBA Second team selection, and selection into the WNBA Eastern All-Star team. Thanks to her contribution to basketball, she was inducted into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame in 2010, crowning her outstanding career.

After retirement, Rebecca started a career as an analyst and commentator, joining ESPN to analyses WNCAA and WNBA games.
Regarding her personal life, Rebecca has been married to Steve Rushin, a sports writer hired at Sports Illustrated, since 2003. The couple has four children.

She has also been recognized for her humanitarian activities; she was a part of the 1996 Lee National Denim Day, helping raise funds for breast cancer research and education. Furthermore, she has been the national spokesperson and backer for Body1.com since 2000. Also, her mother and Rebecca wrote a book, about her mother`s battle with breast cancer, entitled “The Home Team”, and started the RuthAnn and Rebecca Lobo Scholarship at the UConn School of Allied Health for Hispanic students.
