Philip Champion grew up in Florida but then moved to New York, where he was soon charged with a misdemeanor in Brooklyn. After his friend Mark Edwards paid bail to get him out of jail, Champion decided to move to Atlanta, Georgia. Edwards helped him once again and secured him a deal to play street basketball for the AND1 Mixtape Tour in 2000, and since then, Philip has become one of the best streetballers ever.
Champion’s first stint with the AND1 Mixtape Tour lasted until 2004, and he was a part of the team of streetballers who traveled around the US from town to town to play the game, challenging local players.
