Despite setting ASU baseball records with 129 hits with an average batting score of .446, the next several years he spent circuiting in the minor leagues. Having been drafted in the 25th round of the 1993 Amateur Draft and was signed by Vero Beach Dodgers. In 1995, Lo Duca was loaned to Australian Baseball League’s Adelaide Giants where he stayed ’til 1996. His professional baseball career officially began in 1998 when he signed with Los Angeles Dodgers, although he didn’t play regularly until 2001; his hitting proved to be his strength, including a 25-hit streak in 2003, the second longest in Dodger’s history. In 2004, Lo Duca signed with Florida Marlins with which he spent only one season before he was traded to New York Mets in 2006. Later that year, he was selected for the All-Star Team, scoring an average of .318 with a career high of on-base percentage – .355.
