He begged his parents to buy him a magic set, and then performed at his kindergarten class. He continued to work on magic and even went to Las Vegas to study performance art at the age of 12. Mat attended Johnston High School and then the University of Rhode Island, from which he graduated with a degree in Business Administration and a minor in Communication Studies.
In 2003, Franco started performing on stage as part of the show “Stars Of Tomorrow”, which was hosted by the Society of American Magicians. After he graduated, he went on to tour campuses around the Unites States, performing as a one-man act. Eventually he decided to audition for the ninth season of “America’s Got Talent” – this consisted of telling a story with the use of a deck of cards, and impressed all of the judges.
