on

Roberto Baggio was born on 18 February 1967 in Caldogno, Italy to Matilde and Fiorindo, and is a former Italian football (soccer) player who played for several Italian football teams in the position of second striker.

So just how rich is Roberto Baggio, as of mid-2017? Authoritative sources estimate that Baggio’s net worth is as high as $15 million, accumulated largely from his over two decades-long career, stretching from the early 1980s until 2004.

Roberto Baggio Net Worth $15 million

Baggio’s football career began when he was only nine, when he was selected for the youth team in his hometown. He is said to have been a football prodigy, and scored numerous goals for his team from the very beginning. Roberto’s football skills weren’t unnoticed, and he eventually caught the eye of Antonio Mora, the scout of Vicenza, a football team that he would later on play for. He was selected into team’s senior side in 1983, and in the upcoming matches, his performance on the field earned his team a notable number of goals and he became widely recognized by the experts and fans, so in quick time the club was promoted from Serie C to Serie B. He suffered a serious injury of knee in 1985 and he was at a risk of having to stop his career. However, he recovered in a short period of time, and his performance wasn’t significantly affected.

A major change in Baggio’s career happened when Fiorentina purchased him. He gained fame and support amongst fans of the club and due to his success on the field, the team climbing to fifth in Serie A. In the following years, his skills were significantly adding to the team’s success, but his career was once again temporarily stopped, by a knee injury, but he still led Fiorentina into the semi-finals of Coppa Italia in 1986.

Baggio eventually left Fiorentina in 1990, sold to Juventus, one of its rivals for the £8 million, which at that time was the record for purchasing a player. In the forthcoming years, Roberto’s performance in Juventus wasn’t as remarkable as it used to be, and he would either have notably good results or his playing wouldn’t be up to scratch. One of the highlights of his Juventus era was his appointment as a team captain in the 1992-93 season. In the following seasons, he played as a second striker and that remained his preferred position on the football field. Baggio was eventually sold to AC Milan in 1995, and although he suffered another injury, got back into form in a short period of time with notable achievements, including leading the club to the Serie A title in his first season. During this period of time, Roberto presented football fans with his best performance on the field, proving that he still had what it takes.

However, he was later on sold to Bologna, Inter and Brescia, still proving a valuable player for all of those teams and scored many achievements, in particular during his Bologna era he was at his best. Later on, Baggio would have less successful seasons, but he would always manage to get back into form quickly.

Internationally, Roberto played 56 times for Italy after debuting in 1988, being involved in the third place finish in 1990 World Cup, and runner-up in 1994, plus reaching the quarter-final in 1998.

He retired in 2004; nonetheless, he remains an important football persona and is considered to be one of the greatest Italian players of all time, being voted the Italian ‘Player of the Century’ in 2000.

In personal life, Baggio was raised a Roman Catholic, but he later on converted to Buddhism and is a member of several Buddhist organizations. Roberto and his wife Andreina married in 1989, and have a daughter Valentina and two sons, Mattia and Leonardo.

He is widely recognized for his charity work and philanthropy, being named a Goodwill Ambassador of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations in 2002, and playing in several charity matches.

Ryan went to the University of Michigan and play for the Wolverines but stayed there for only one season after being a backup option for Chad Henne; however, his 97-yard touchdown pass to Mario Manningham against Wisconsin was the longest pass completion in Michigan’s history. Mallett decided to return to his home state, and enrolled at the University of Arkansas where he represented the Razorbacks. He was forced to miss the 2008 season due to the NCAA transfer policy, but played for the Razorbacks in the next two seasons. He didn’t play a single game in his rookie season, serving as the third-string QB behind Tom Brady and Brian Hoyer. In 2012, Mallett became the backup QB after the Patriots released Hoyer, and had his NFL debut in a blowout 45-7 win over the St. Louis Rams in October 2012. In Houston, Mallett was named as the No.2 QB behind Ryan Fitzpatrick, but later was promoted into a starting role, and threw his first touchdown after connecting with the defensive end J.J. Watt in week 11 of the season against the Cleveland Browns. Mallet injured his pectoral muscle against the Cincinnati Bengals and was sidelined for the remainder of the season. In 2014, he competed with former teammate Brian Hoyer for the starting QB spot, and neither of them didn’t impress during their respective time with the Texans; Mallett was released in October 2015, but the Baltimore Ravens signed him to replace the injured Matt Schaub, another former Texans quarterback. As Joe Flacco was also injured, Mallett started the few games for the Ravens until Flacco returned. He recorded 178 completions for 1,753 yards, seven touchdowns, and nine interceptions in his NFL career thus far.

Regarding his personal life, Ryan Mallett’s most intimate information such as marital status and the number of kids are unknown as he successfully keeps it out of the public’s eye.
