Although born in Loveland, Jeremy grew up in Keystone, Colorado, and from his early years was active in sports; he joined the karate team when five years old, and earned a black belt at 12 years old. While in high school, he was a part of football and track teams, and winning state championships, before concentrating on skiing. Before he turned 15 he was the youngest male freestyle skier to be selected for the US Ski Team. His first championship win came when he was 14 years old, and he subsequently competed as a professional freestyle skier until 2010, winning gold medals in numerous World Cup events. After high school, he enrolled at the University of Colorado, Boulder, where he started his football career, playing as a wide receiver and punt returner. He became a star on the football team and posted several records, including one for the longest touchdown reception of 96 yards.
