Interesting Facts

#Fact
1 Was good friends with Charisma Carpenter.
2 Though allowed to use his native Irish accent in the show Angel (1999), it was so thick that he had to occasionally "Americanize" it so you could understand what he was saying. This sometimes made it sound as if his accent was fading in and out.
3 Was good friends with David Boreanaz and Christian Kane of Angel (1999).
4 Grew up in Cabinteely, Dublin, Ireland down the street from Cinematographer / Producer Noel Donnellon and Animator / Director Paul Donnellon.
5 Actor Michael Fishman, who co-starred with Quinn on Roseanne, set up a memorial fund in his name.
6 He died at a friend's house when he overdosed on heroin.
7 Liked hiking, soccer, motor sports and playing the drums and guitar.
8 Worked in a factory, painted houses and waited tables before getting discovered.
9 Had two sisters - Sonya and Louisa.
10 Favorite band was U2.
11 His father Murty is a musician who played with Dickie Rock and the Miami Showband, and later The Sands with Tony Kenny.
12 He was spotted by casting director Johanna Ray, who helped him get representation.
13 His character Mark Healy on Roseanne (1988) was intended to be a one-episode guest appearance, but became a seven-year stint.
14 Did dead-on impersonations of Sesame Street (1969)'s Grover and Christopher Walken.
15 Had a tattoo "Erin Go Bragh" (Ireland Forever) on his right shoulder, and a Harp on his left.
16 Attended Clonkeen College, a Roman Catholic Christian Brothers school, in Blackrock, near Dublin.
17 Was a co-owner of Goldfingers, a 007 themed nightclub in Hollywood.
18 Though originally from Dublin, Ireland, most of Quinn's roles have called for him to hide his Irish accent and don an American one. The WB series Angel (1999) was his first role in an American series where he was allowed to use his own brogue. Quinn's first screen kiss was in Shout (1991) with Gwyneth Paltrow. While still playing Mark on Roseanne (1988), Quinn also took a role as youngest son Cedric on a series called Covington Cross (1992). But while Roseanne (1988) filmed in the US, Covington Cross (1992) was filmed in England, which gave the actor one hell of a commute.

Quotes

#Quote
1 I'm into doing my own stunts. I learned [how to] years ago when I was doing a show for American TV called Covington Cross. I had a lot of fighting and rough stuff in that and I always want to do my own stunts -- it just looks a lot better. We've got really good stunt guys on the show and they teach us all this stuff. The other night I had to put on a back brace and pads and everything -- I want to participate and they're letting me, so it's pretty cool.
2 When you get to speak Irish, you become more at one with yourself, you kind of have a spark when you use it, and I think it's a great dialect. When they first cast me, I was a pretty avid fan of vampire movies and Celtic mythology, so I was excited to get a chance to walk in Doyle's shoes and have fun with it.
