Darko Milicic was born on the 20th June 1985, in Novi Sad, Serbia (then) Yugoslavia, and is probably best recognized for being a retired professional basketball player, who played for the Serbian team Hemofarm as well as for the Serbian national team. He is also known for playing in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for such teams as the Detroit Pistons, Memphis Grizzlies and Minnesota Timberwolves. His professional playing career was active from 2001 until 2012.

So, have you ever wondered just how rich Darko Milicic is, as of early 2018? According to authoritative sources, it is estimated that the total size of Darko’s net worth is over $25 million, accumulated through his successful involvement in the sports industry as a professional basketball player. Another source is coming from his work as a farmer.

Darko Milicic Net Worth $25 Million

Darko Milicic was raised in his hometown by his parents Zora and Milorad Milicic. He became interested in playing basketball very early, and at the age of 14, he moved with his family to Vrsac, where he continued to play it.

Thus, Darko’s professional playing career began in 2001, when he started playing for the city’s professional basketball club, Hemofarm. He spent there two seasons until the NBA Draft in 2003, marking the establishment of his net worth.

Subsequently, Darko became a professional NBA player, when he was selected in the first round of the  NBA Draft as the second overall pick by the Detroit Pistons, so he signed a rookie contract, which added a considerable amount to his net worth. During his first season, the team beat the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2004 NBA Finals, which made him the youngest player to appear in a NBA Finals game. However, Darko’s time with the Pistons would be remembered mostly for the lack of playing minutes. During his time there, he played in 96 games, scoring no more than 152 points and averaging 1.6 points per game.

In 2006, Darko was traded to the Orlando Magic and during the game against the New York Knicks, he scored 13 points in 32 playing minutes. Moreover, in the 2006–2007 playoffs, he averaged solid numbers, including 12.3 points per game on 58.8% shooting, increasing his net worth. However, after his rookie contract expired, the Orlando Magic decided not to offer him a second contract and he became an unrestricted free agent.

Subsequently, he signed a contract worth $21 million with the Memphis Grizzlies over the next three years, which increased his net worth further. Unfortunately, he couldn’t reach any major success due to several injuries, and in 2009, he was traded to the New York Knicks, and then to the Minnesota Timberwolves, on a contract worth $20 million over the next four years, increasing his net worth by a large margin. In the 2010-2011 season, he scored 23 points, 16 rebounds and six blocks in the game against the Los Angeles Lakers, after which he had 25 points and 11 rebounds in the game against the Golden State Warriors. However, his playing time was cut down in the following season, and he was waived by the Minnesota Timberwolves. In 2012, he signed a contract with the Boston Celtics, but played only one game for them before retiring.

To speak further about his career, Darko was a part of Serbian national basketball team, which also contributed to his wealth. The team won gold at the 2001 European Championship for Cadets in Latvia, after which he also played with the senior team at the 2006 FIBA World Championship, but they were eliminated by Spain.

Upon retirement, Darko tried out professional kickboxing for a short period of time. He currently works as a commercial farmer in Serbia, as the owner of an apple orchard, which is now the main source of his income.

Regarding his personal life, Darko Milicic has been married to fashion designer Zorana Markus since 2009; the couple has three children together. He is also known for collaborating with various charitable organizations.
