Bobby grew up in his hometown of Los Angeles with his two brothers and a sister. Growing up in Hamilton Square, Dahntay started playing basketball at an early age, and once it was time for high school, he attended Steinert High School for which he played basketball, and in his senior year had an average of 24 points nine rebounds per game, which earned him a McDonald’s All-America honorable mention.
Following his matriculation, Dahntay enrolled at Rutgers and continued his basketball career by playing for the Scarlet Kings. His next stop was the NBA D-League team Fort Wayne Mad Ants, which kick-started his career as he recorded some of his best performances playing for the club, including 18 points in 31 minutes in his debut.
