Abby grew up in a family of seven siblings, including four brothers and two sisters. Her love for soccer comes from a very early age, as she began playing it at the age of four alongside her brothers and sisters. This has greatly affected her, as she continued to play soccer and even basketball while in high school. During her high school career, she was named in the All-American team, and scored 142 goals in total.

Following graduation from the Our Lady Of Mercy High School, she enrolled in the University of Florida on a full athletic scholarship. There, her skills continued to develop, as she soon became a member of the University soccer team, “Florida Gators”. In her first year, Abby won the national championship with the team. Furthermore, she was twice named Southeastern Conference Player Of the Year.

Abby`s professional career began with the 2002 season`s WUSA draft, as she was selected second overall by the Washington Freedom. In her debut year, she was named the WUSA Rookie Of The Year, then during 2003, her impact on the team`s play increased and she and all-star Mia Hamm contributed to the winning of the Founders Cup. In addition, Abby was named the MVP.

However, in 2003 Women United Soccer Association ceased to exist, due to financial issues and overall lack of the sponsorship. Fortunately, in 2008 a new league was formed with seven clubs, under the name Women`s Professional Soccer League. Abby was again signed by the Washington Freedom, and continued where she left off. Over the next few years her popularity and net worth grew with her success. In the 2009 season she finished as a top scorer and was named to the 2010 WPS All-Star Team. However the franchise was moved to Florida in 2011 and changed the name of the team to MagicJack, where she served as a player-coach throughout the 2011 season.

In addition to her club soccer career and net worth built from it, she has made a name for herself in the national team. She won her first Olympic Gold medal in 2004, after the final against Brazil, and the second one in 2012 against Japan. In addition to the team’s success at the 2012 Olympics, she was named the FIFA Women`s Player Of The Year.

Furthermore, during her career she has collaborated with many prestigious sport brands, like NIKE, Gatorade and many others. These deals also benefited her net worth.

Overall, her career has been very successful; other than the already mentioned awards she has also been named the US Soccer Athlete of the Year five times. Further, the mayor of Rochester named 20th July the “Abby Wambach Day”.

In additing to her net worth, Abby has also appeared on the cover of “The Boddy Issue” edition of the ESPN Magazine, and has been featured in the HBO film entitled “Dare To Dream: The Story Of The U.S Women`s Soccer Team in 2005.
